Developers, Designers, Data Scientists and Idea Generators:
Spend the weekend at the Capital One 's Code <FAM/> Hackathon to Challenge the Future of Family Finances! Bring yourself, your laptop and your sleeping bag—we’ll take care of the rest.
Can you motivate family members to earn rewards and find interesting ways to redeem them?
Can you use data to help family members make smarter financial decisions, predict spending and protect their account?
It's all about the family
How can you make it easier for family members to manage finances and communicate with each other?
Here's your challenge
How can you educate family members about managing their money?
EASE OF USE
Develop a solution that will help improve a family’s management of its day-to-day finances using one credit card account with added family members.
Think about a child’s first credit card, about newlyweds learning to manage their finances, about parents teaching their kids the value of a hard-earned dollar.
How can we make the family’s finances more accessible and manageable?
Brainstorm an idea, pitch it at the hackathon and work to make it a reality. Don’t have an idea? No problem! You can join a team on-site, or work by yourself.
The event is overnight, and at the end of the event, three projects will be awarded a piece of the $50K prize.
With a Capital One credit card, account holders can grant family members—including their children and significant others—access to their account.
An account used by the whole family can have many benefits. When family members have access to their own, unique credit cards and numbers, the account holders can:
• Monitor their children’s spending
• Build credit for each family member
• Educate first-time spenders on the value of credit
• Earn rewards

A hackathon can be quite intense, so we've created a place for you to relax and revive those creative juices.
Need to take a break from all the coding? Go to the lounge area and enjoy a giant Jenga game, a cornhole competition, and other family fun activities.
Want to release some stress and boost your productivity? Get yourself a massage, from 6pm to 9pm on Saturday.
Feeling a bit tired? We've got beds, pillows and blankets for you.
And last but not least, we'll please your palate with gourmet food, including a late night ice-cream bar.
